B & The Honeyboys are a bluesy, funky, R&B outfit formed in early 2006 by Kieran McEvoy (aka K.J. Mac) and Aileen Mythen (B). K.J. Mac hails from Dublin and has lived and worked as a musician for 8 years in New York City, where he played lead guitar, sang and contributed songwriting to bands such as the Sony signed roots act, 'Naked Grape', Indie Folk rocker, Melissa Sheehan and Electra Records glam rockers, 'Smashed Gladys' among others. He has also worked with Chiara Browne, Eleanor McEVoy and Luan Parle to name a few. He has a ‘kick ass full-on electric guitar style for which the word gritty might have been specially coined.’ (Jackie Hayden – Hot Press) Wexford born B She has been performing on stage in one way or another from the age of six and is a graduate of Dublin’s prestigious Gaiety School of Acting. She is a ‘real discovery, her bluesy voice filling your head with pure soul as she gets under the skin of the songs and sings them from the inside out’ (Jackie Hayden-Hot Press). ‘To think that people revere the plastic pop princesses when the real deal is to be found right in front of you.’ (Bluesbunny) B & The Honeyboys songs inject a freshness and vitality into the Blues/Roots genre, sounding at once traditional and contemporary. The two other members of the band are Shane Atlas from London on drums and Paddy Joyce from Dublin on bass. |
